If you watched the 2022 Winter Olympics, you saw American skaters competing on the world stage. We at the Eugene Figure Skating Club (EFSC) support our local competitive and recreational skaters on a more modest scale, but we are equally committed to our sport and to Lane County’s ice skating community. We offer the only ‘Learn to Skate USA’ and ‘Freestyle skating’ programs between Portland and Medford. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and a member club of U.S. Figure Skating and the Oregon Skating Council.
We have recently established a sponsorship program in which local businesses support the continued growth of figure skating in our community. Such a sponsorship program permits us to undertake the kind of sustained, long-term planning and development that constantly soliciting one-time contributions simply doesn’t allow. We believe this model is essential to establishing a more solid, stable foundation that our skaters need and deserve. Our goals include:
— Increasing the hours of ‘freestyle’ ice available for competitive skaters;
— Introducing ice skating to a broader range of prospective students through outreach to schools and community groups;
— Establishing a scholarship fund for skaters in need
This is an ambitious agenda. But if you would like to become a sponsor of the Eugene Figure Skating Club or would like more information, please contact EFSC at efsc.clubpresident@gmail.com.
