This just in…update to procedures 8/17

August 17, 2020 By Christy McCaslin

New information received from the rink today states that bags are not allowed in the building at this time.

Our posted procedures state that you could have a bag and stash it under your assigned chair to keep your personal items in, but this is not the case at this time and this information will be updated as soon as possible.

We suggest you leave personal items at home, in your car, or with a trusted individual outside of the rink except for what you need with you, i.e. keys and water bottles. The facility will not be open to the public and the lobby is closed, except for up to ten people directly associated with a younger skater on the session, but we cannot be responsible for missing items.

Please plan accordingly.

Freestyle sessions have started!

August 16, 2020 By lizwhite

Great news for freestyle skaters! The Rink Exchange is open on a limited basis.

Sadly, not so great news for public sessions. At this time there are no public sessions available.

We are now offering Freestyle sessions, to past Learn to Skate Group lesson students and other skaters that are Basic Levels 3-4 and above, as well as to teens and adults previously registered in our LTS programs! We have been working with The Rink Exchange to put guidelines together to help keep everyone safe and reduce the chance of spreading COVID19. It is important that your read through these guidelines prior to registering to skate. The process will be quite different this year.

IMPORTANT!!
In order to skate at The Rink Exchange, you MUST RESIDE IN A “PHASE 2 OREGON COUNTY” (link to county map). YOU MAY NOT BE ALLOWED TO SKATE if you have traveled out of the Phase 2 county within two weeks of the day you want to skate. If you are unsure of the rules on this PLEASE EMAIL AND ASK BEFORE YOU SIGN UP TO SKATE: sk8eugene@gmail.com

Please visit our Freestyle webpage to learn more and to register.
NO WALK-UPS. You must sign up and pre-pay online.

COVID-19 News update

August 12, 2020 By Christy McCaslin

Dear Eugene Figure Skating Club Skaters, Members, and Friends:

As we continue to deal with the coronavirus (COVID-19) in our community, we all receive much instruction and direction on a local and national level.  Eugene Figure Skating Club (EFSC) is no different.  In keeping with the recommendations from US Figure Skating, the Oregon Governor’s proclamation closing schools, and the general guidance of the 4J School District, EFSC has suspended most Club sponsored events.

EFSC-sponsored Freestyles will start in August, on a limited basis, and we are still determining whether Learn-to-Skate classes will start later this fall.  EFSC operates as a Club.  We have contracted with the Lane County Ice Center (the Rink) to rent the ice for our designated classes and events.  We, however, are completely separate entities.

We recommend that you regularly check the RinkExchange website for an updated schedule, as things are changing daily, and sometimes hourly. At this time the rink is not offering any of their own freestyle sessions or public skate sessions.

This is an unprecedented situation.  It is a unique and scary circumstance for us all.  In due time, we will have a more full picture of how we will be able to continue with our EFSC season.

Thank you for your understanding and patience as we wade through this uncharted time.  Above all, please stay safe and healthy!  We hope to see you all soon back on the ice, doing what we love!

Very truly yours,
Eugene Figure Skating Club Board
